About Me

Tami Lehman-Wilzig
Israel
“Added Value” is what I aim for when writing my books. Many of my books follow the formula of stories + activities = learning fun. Other books tell compelling stories relating to key events or social issues, providing the launching pad for important classroom and family discussions. Two of my books have won awards: “Keeping the Promise” received a 2005 International Reading Association (IRA) Teachers' Choice Award, and the New York State Reading Association’s Charlotte Award. “Passover Around the World” was awarded an Honorable Mention by the Jewish Book Council for the Sydney Taylor Awards 2008. In 2011 two new books of mine were published. “Green Bible Stories for Children” shows how the Bible provides the blueprint for protecting the environment, giving this ancient book added meaning to modern-day life. “Nathan Blows Out the Hanukkah Candles” is a story about an autistic child and how his brother and neighbors learn to embrace him. Accepting the other into our midst is an important Jewish value. My hope is that “Nathan” will help teach and reinforce this ideal.
